Kennametal’s new EDM blocks may look like simple pieces of tungsten carbide on the outside, but it’s what’s inside that really counts.
The new CD650, KR466, KR855, and KR887 EDM blocks are wear-resistant blocks that can be formed into nearly any shape. Depending on composition and grain size, our blocks can be machined into can die ironing rings, piercing punches, or even crusher rolls.
These EDM blocks are different from standard metric blocks. Take a look at the composition at 1500X magnification to see its complexity.
The KMSB blocks are a diverse group with different chemical makeups. Some have coarse grain structures, while others have a submicron structure.
All of our EDM blocks can be machined into punches and dies that have excellent hardness and wear resistance. And, all are sinter-HIP processed from the highest quality tungsten carbide. Think of them as fully customizable and unique solutions for stamping.
